After a series sweep in Toronto, The A’s season is jeopardy. There’s no denying that. They currently sit in 3rd place in the division for the first time since April 18th, 5.5 games behind the Astros and 1 behind Seattle. Now they’re even 4 games out of the 2nd AL Wild Card spot, tied with the team that just swept them out of their city.
The A’s are on a bit of a skid, but don’t you worry, BoMel is here to save the day.
Let’s Fucking. Go.
I’ll run through a brick wall for BoMel. And this is coming from an Orioles fan who watched him in the dugout at Camden Yards as he allowed his former 3B Josh Donaldson to excessively tag our beloved *holding back tears* Manny Machado back in 2014.
Aside from that little incident, I have nothing but the utmost respect for BoMel and the Green & Gold. He’s done a great job with the A’s in keeping them competitive and motivated, and ever since I was a kid, something about the Green & Gold with the white cleats did something for me. I’ll always have a soft spot for the Athletics of Oakland.
This is why you’ll always see me tweeting A’s propaganda and tagging A’s podcasters. The Coliseum, the city of Oakland, Stomper, and everyone involved with that franchise deserves a winner.
And it’s coming.
BoMel is right. The A’s best baseball IS yet to come. They’re a much better team than what they’ve shown recently, but to leap frog some teams into the Wild Card isn’t going to be a walk in the park.
The A’s have 25 games left on their schedule, 19 of which against divisional opponents. Here’s a breakdown of their remaining schedule:
MATCHUP
3 vs. White Sox
3 vs. Rangers
3 @ Royals
3 @ Angels
7 vs. Mariners (4 Home, 3 Away)
6 vs. Astros (3 Home, 3 Away)
2021 RECORD AGAINST
1-3
9-7
3-1
12-4
4-8
4-9
It’s a tough stretch. They have not been great this season against the White Sox (1-3), Astros (4-9), or Mariners (4-8), and those teams take up 16 of their 25 remaining games. However, if they can manage to win or at least split those specific series, they should have a chance at gaining some ground.
The Yankees losing their series to the Orioles was fantastic for the A’s, but the beatdown they took from the Blue Jays this past weekend really hurt them and canceled out any hope of gaining ground. Speaking of the Blue Jays, the Jays have 6 games remaining against Tampa and 7 against the Yankees, but other than that, their remaining schedule is extremely soft. They may be, actually, they are the team that scares me the most in this Wild Card race if I’m an A’s fan.
As an Orioles fan, I’d love to see them play spoiler to that Jays team, as they have 6 games remaining against them, and they play the Yankees 3 more times. Orioles, do you understand your assignment? Help out a fellow sub-$100 mil payroll and destroy the Jays, Yankees, and hell, even the Red Sox while you’re at it, to give Oakland the push it needs to get into the playoffs.
I expect the A’s to take care of business against the Rangers, Royals and Angels, all of which they have destroyed this year (9-7, 3-1, 12-4 records against respectively).
The Mariners have won 5 in a row and are feeling themselves after sweeping the D-backs this weekend. With a playoff drought like theirs, you also know they’re hungry.
The Green & Gold haven’t performed great against the ‘Stros so far this season, but with 6 remaining against them, they still have time to prove something. You could say they’re due for something great. Just like BoMel was alluding to in his press conference.
But if I’m Matt Chapman, Mark Canha, Matt Olson, Frankie Montas, or any of the other leaders on that A’s team, I’m fired up. If I’m Khris Davis, I’m crushing 40 bombs the rest of the year and once again hitting .247. Do it for the city, Khrush. If I’m Starling Marte I’m continuing to swing my big ol’ trade deadline dick and swiping 20 more bags and slugging a BILLION down the stretch.
Give me a jersey and I’ll go hit bloopers into the outfield for the A’s just to make a playoff push. I’m ready to fucking go after watching BoMel say what he said. I’m suiting up every night and fighting for BoMel like he’s King Leonidas leading the Spartans against the Persians in 300.

Gun to my head, I say they go 15-10 in their last 25 and end up with an 89-73 record. Will that be enough to get them into at least the 2nd Wild Card? I’m not sure. We’re going to have to see what these other teams in the race do and if, ahem, THE ORIOLES CAN DO A DAMN JOB.
Regardless, the Green and Gold deserve a push, stick and landing into the playoffs this season. Whether it’s one of their final years in Oakland or not, BoMel and the A’s are ready for war. And I’m all here for it.
Let’s. Fucking. Go.
